Fresh off of her record-breaking 2023 Super Bowl Halftime performance, Music superstar Rihanna will perform the Oscar®-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at the 95th Oscars®, executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner announced today.  Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 12th, 2023.

Fox Sports said that the Apple Music Halftime Show featuring Rihanna drew an average of 118.7 million viewers, making it the second most-watched performance in Super Bowl history.

Rihanna to Perform “Lift Me Up” at 2023 Oscars

You may have noticed that Rihanna didn’t include “Lift Me Up” in her halftime performance at the Super Bowl on Feb. 12th. Turns out she was just saving it for the Oscars. Rihanna will perform the Oscar-nominated ballad from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12th.

“Lift Me Up,” with music by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goransson and lyric by Tems and Ryan Coogler, is nominated for Original Song.  It is Rihanna’s first Oscar nomination.

A nine-time Grammy Award winner, Rihanna has eight multi-platinum albums, and 14 singles that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

YE Music made an appearance at the Super Bowl on Sunday when Rihanna sang “All of the Lights” during the halftime show. Kanye West (Ye) wrote and performed the original song, which also featured a prominent vocal performance by Rihanna.

Actress and singer Sofia Carson, accompanied by songwriter Diane Warren, will perform the Oscar®-nominated song “Applause” from “Tell It like a Woman” at the 95th Oscars®, executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner and executive producer Molly McNearney announced today.  Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

“Applause,” with music and lyric by Warren, is nominated for Original Song.  It is Warren’s 14th Oscar nomination.  She received an Honorary Award at the Academy’s Governors Awards in November 2022.

Carson is a multiplatinum recording artist and released her self-titled debut album in 2022. Her film credits include “Purple Hearts,” which she also executive produced and wrote and performed the soundtrack, “Songbird,” “Feel the Beat,” the “Descendants” trilogy, and the upcoming film “Carry On.”

Byrne was the founding member, lead singer and guitarist for the critically acclaimed band Talking Heads. He won an Oscar for the original score of the 1987 film “The Last Emperor,” in collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cong Su.

Model Ashley Graham, actor Vanessa Hudgens and multi-hyphenate Lilly Singh will host “Countdown to the Oscars®,” the official lead-in to the 95th Oscars on Sunday, March 12, airing at 6:30 p.m. EDT/3:30 p.m. PDT on ABC. This marks Hudgens second consecutive year hosting the official pre-show. Content creator Reece Feldman will be a backstage correspondent and Rocsi Diaz will be the correspondent for the Academy’s member viewing party in NYC. The 90-minute special will highlight Oscar® nominees, performers and presenters, and give fans around the world the ultimate insider’s sneak peek at Hollywood’s biggest night.

“Countdown to the Oscars” is executive produced by David Chamberlin and Michael Antinoro, alongside executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner.

To ensure public safety, support security strategies and facilitate the production of this year’s Oscars®, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the City of Los Angeles have finalized street closure plans around the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD STREET CLOSURES FOR 2023 OSCAR® WEEK

To accommodate the construction of press risers and pre-show stages along the Oscars red carpet, all lanes of Hollywood Boulevard are closed from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

MTA will begin re-routing bus traffic and subway trains will bypass the Ovation Hollywood station after the last regularly scheduled train on Saturday, March 11, until the first scheduled train after 6 a.m. on Monday, March 13.

Between Sunday, March 5, and Oscar Sunday, March 12, additional streets and sidewalks will be closed for varying periods.
